A block of 107 homes will have its cladding removed and the plans will be open for the public to view next week.

The cladding at Gallery Court in Fulbourne Road, Walthamstow, will be stripped off and new cladding will be installed, Sanctuary Housing confirmed last year.

The housing association stresses the block remains compliant with current regulations and the existing aluminium composite cladding is different to the type on Grenfell Tower, which was destroyed by a fire in June 2017.

On Wednesday, February 5 residents are invited to view the plans for the new cladding at an open event in Flat 4, Crowndale Place from 3pm – 6pm.

In a letter to residents Sanctuary Housing’s head of housing, Kimberley De Vergori, said the housing association had worked with the National House Building Council and Waltham Forest Council’s building control team to ensure the plans met technical standards.

Contractor, Ardmore Construction, is expected to begin work on the cladding in mid-February. It is anticipated work will take seven months.
