Outline plans for a development of ten houses off Kiln Road, North Weald, are being opposed by North Weald Bassett Parish Council.

A planning proposal to build ten new houses on Green Belt land has been opposed.

The proposed dwellings at Caribrook Farm, off Kiln Road, North Weald, raised concerns with North Weald Bassett Parish Council about having homes along a narrow road.

Submitted to Epping Forest District Council, the application details proposals for the properties to be built once all existing buildings, concrete bases, hard standings and a static mobile home have been removed.

Gardens and parking, access improvements to the site and a new access road are also listed in the application.

Speaking about the houses at the council meeting on Monday, January 3, parish councillor Anne Grigg said: "As far as I'm concerned the development is too much when compared to the existing footprint.

"If you are going to have this sort of development then access will be needed by car and there is inadequate access through Kiln Road for that number of houses."

Councillor Terry Blanks added: "There is clearly a lot of concern about it."

Although the application site is within Green Belt lane, the applicant stated he believes permission should be given as it is previously developed land.

The application site comes within the boundaries of Theydon Mount Parish Council.

North Weald Bassett Parish Council will pass its objections onto Epping Forest District Council which will consider the scheme.

Ken Knight, representing North Weald Preservation Society, said he was concerned over the impact light overspill would have on the nearby forest land.

Mr Knight told the committee: "We are talking about the environment all of the time - pollution, city centres. Where are we putting this site? Outside of the village.

"They are going to use their cars, there are no facilities up there. They will use their cars to come down (into the village) and do their shopping.

"To even think about putting a site up there is a no-no.

"It's a very narrow road used by quite a lot of walkers. You will have a lot of heavy traffic for the building of the development."
