A museum will temporarily close to ensure its artefacts are well cared for.

Verulamium Museum in St Albans is set to close during half term from next Saturday (February 15) to Sunday, February 23.

This closure is to make sure the historic pieces on display are housed in appropriate environments and to guarantee the safety and wellbeing of visitors.

It will also make sure there is no disruption to schools that have booked to visit the museum.

Visitors who were planning a trip during half term are encouraged to visit the St Albans Museum and Gallery instead.

District councillor Anthony Rowlands, responsible for community, leisure and sport, said: "The museums in St Albans are an incredible resource and we need to make sure we are taking care of these invaluable assets for the community.

"This brief closure will ensure the museum is ready to welcome everyone."
