The number of sixth formers looking to study at Epping St John’s Sixth Form has doubled this year.

Applications for places at the Epping-based further education facility have leaped for September 2020, making it the fourth year running.

Students looking to join Year 7 at the school this year has also risen – meaning the school is now full, with a long waiting list.

Head of school Mike Yerosimou said: “Looking at all the wonderful things going on at Epping St John’s, I suppose it is little wonder that slowly and surely we are becoming the preferred school for our community.

“This is a drum I have banged for many years and will continue to do so. I know I sound like a broken record, but I make no apologies for repeating: Epping is a wonderful community. It deserves an exceptional secondary school at the heart of all that happens.

“It is up to us to give back to our community and the more we do this, the more that confidence in us will grow, resulting in the numbers we are seeing applying to the school today.”

With applications now in, the school has launched its programme of transition events to help new students to get familiar with the school and to settle when they join.

Secondary school style lessons have been delivered to Year 5 and 6 pupils at local feeder primary schools.

An induction day and evening are due to be held in June for both students and parents and a summer school on offer in July.
