After what will undoubtedly be many months of working from home and businesses functioning just as well, it won't be long before financial advisors are advising that there is no need to revert back to the “old way” of renting or owning large office blocks that used to hold hundreds now housing a only a handful of staff.

To recover lost revenue due to the virus they will downscale or sell the massive properties and move to smaller premises appropriate to their new staff numbers.

Who would take over these dinosaur-buildings is another story.

For the remaining office-bound staff this will result in a less busy public transport system. For most people, commuting to work in the office as we knew it will be a thing of the recent past.

I had often read and heard people refer to the Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm working model as being Dickensian in the digital 21st Century.
