- Prime Minister Boris Johnson has spent the night in intensive care after his coronavirus symptoms worsened.

- Mr Johnson was moved to the critical unit at St Thomas' Hospital on Monday evening as part of his ongoing treatment for Covid-19.

- He was understood to be conscious when he was moved to intensive care at about 7pm, as a precaution should he require ventilation to aid his recovery.

- Derek Hill, a professor of medical imaging at University College London (UCL), says Mr Johnson is "extremely sick" - with many coronavirus patients who need intensive care requiring invasive ventilation.

- As of yesterday, there have been 858 positive cases in Essex, 389 in Waltham Forest and 311 in Redbridge. In the UK, there have been 5,373 deaths altogether, and 51,608 confirmed cases.

- There have been 16 additional Covid-19-related deaths announced at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

- But there have been nine more deaths at Barts Health Trust, which runs Whipps Cross Hospital, and 20 more at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
