A weekly drive-thru coronavirus testing centre in Watford will open again this weekend with the support of the military.

Last week it was announced that three test centres across Hertfordshire will open on a weekly basis for the forseeable future.

And the ‘pop-up’ sites in Watford, Hertford and Stevenage will all open again between Saturday and Monday- all with the support of the military.

The sites will open to selected groups of people eligible to be tested for Covid-19, including key workers and their families.

In Watford, people eligible for a test can be tested at Watford Leisure Centre each Sunday.

The coronavirus test is to check whether you have the virus now. It does not tell you if you have already had the virus.

Health authorities are warning that tests are only "effective" if you are in your first three days of coronavirus symptoms - most commonly a cough or fever.

It is imperative that those eligible for a test book the day before the site opens, with all three drive-thru sites running from 10am to 4pm.

Anyone who attends a test site should bring ID with them.

The coronavirus tests are available to:

- People who have to go out to work because they can’t work from home and are in the first three days of having coronavirus symptoms

- People aged 65 and older who are in the first three days of having suspected coronavirus symptoms

- NHS staff, social care staff and essential workers who are in the first three days of having coronavirus symptoms

- NHS staff, social care staff and essential workers who are self-isolating for 14 days because a household member has suspected coronavirus symptoms

- Anyone aged over five years old in the first three days of having suspected coronavirus symptoms who lives with anyone listed above.

How do I book a drive-thru test?

You must book online on the government website. If you are visiting the testing centre in Watford, you will need to apply for a test the day earlier on the Saturday.

If you are visiting Stevenage, you must apply on on the Sunday, and if you are visiting Hertford, you must apply on the Friday.

This is because the online booking system will only show you details of test locations which are available in the following 24 hours.

To book a test, go online to www.gov.uk/coronavirus and enter your details. You will be sent a booking code.
