Essex Police continue to crackdown on driving offences with several arrests on Monday.
The county has experienced a spike in road offences during the coronavirus pandemic – speeding has almost doubled since lockdown began and a record 266 drug driving arrests were made in April.
On Monday, May 11, officers made five driving related arrests across west Essex.
Charlotte Smith, 21, of Brookland Drive, Waltham Abbey, was arrested arrest in Pick Hill shortly before 10am and charged with drink driving.
She is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 10.
At 10.30am officers unsuccessfully signalled a driver to stop in Blackmore Road, Hook End.
A 19-year-old man from Stondon Massey in Ongar Road, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, dangerous driving and theft of a vehicle.
Later in the day, police were alerted to reports of a speeding vehicle on the A414 in Ongar.
A 21-year-old man from Hertfordshire was arrested in Ongar Road, Brentwood, at 1.20pm on suspicion of drug driving.
Additionally, officers arrested two 19-year-old men in Station Road, Harlow, on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.
They were arrested at around 11.35pm after a knife was found in the vehicle and remain in custody.
