Foodies craving Mcdonald’s have found it difficult to order their favourite fast food meals as the Uber Eats delivery service had sold out of orders within minutes.

The Station Road, Harrow, McDonald’s branch was among the first fifteen restaurants to reopen yesterday (May 13), offering a delivery-only service through Uber Eats.

Many had marked the day on their calendar as a day of feasting, after branches across the UK shut due to the coronavirus lockdown.

But despite running on a limited menu, many of the reopened restaurants including the Harrow branch found it difficult to keep up with the high demand.

The restaurant starts operating at 11am, as McDonald’s are currently running a limited menu, with no breakfast service.

On the launch day, the McDonald’s menu appeared on the Uber Eats app at around 11.48am, but shortly after it was taken off the app as it quickly sold out.

Some potential customers took to Twitter to ask about why some delivery requests were cancelled, while others couldn’t deliver at all.

On Twitter, McDonald’s UK said: “Some of our restaurants are currently experiencing very high levels of orders and may not be able to facilitate all delivery requests and deliveries may become temporarily unavailable.

“Please do check back soon on UberEats.”

But it appeared that at various addresses around Harrow, the option to order from McDonald’s did not reappear.

From a quick trial today (May 14) at the Harrow Times, one device was able to find McDonald's on Uber Eats, but another device at the same address could not find McDonald's.

One resident in Harrow captured an image of delivery drivers lining up outside the Harrow branch.

In the photo, it appears the drivers are not social distancing as they are seen all close together.

The Harrow branch was not the only one to face ordering issues as many in Watford were unable to find McDonald's in their app despite being in the region of the reopened North Watford store.

A delivery driver outside the Tooting branch told the Daily Mail that the reopening was "dangerous" due to the high surges of orders and large groups of delivery drivers.

Today marks the second day of the Harrow branch operating, with Uber Eats still not showing on some devices despite being in the delivery range.

An Uber Eats spokesperson said: "We urge customers to be patient as we work with McDonalds to help to ensure that orders are fulfilled.”
