McDonald’s has reopened one of its stores in Watford for delivery - but customers have been left frustrated after being unable to order their meals on Uber Eats.

The fast food franchise's store in St Albans Road, North Watford, was among 14 other restaurants in the south east of England to open yesterday for delivery only.

McDonald's told customers that all meals are being delivered by Uber Eats - but disappointed fans across the town have been unable to access their meals through the delivery service despite living locally to the Watford store.

And it seems the issue has not been resolved, with the Uber Eats website still not recognising McDonald's in St Albans Road as a restaurant to deliver from.

Uber Eats has told the Watford Observer that "demand is very high" at the store in Watford and has urged customers to be "patient" as it works to ensure orders "are fulfilled".

However, many disappointed customers have taken to twitter to vent their anger over the issue.

One confused user tweeted: “Mcdonalds isn’t showing up on my Uber eats in Watford is it not open or did something happen.”

Another angry user said they lived within a mile of the store but it was not showing up on Uber Eats.

They said: “Can you sort the app out please I want to order a @McDonalds from the Watford branch and it’s not showing up even though I live within a mile from it.”

Another said: “McDonalds Watford still not showing on the app and no response to the form I submitted. Why can I not order? Other people clearly can.”

However, it seems one person was lucky enough to get their meal delivered through Uber Eats, but said it took two hours.

They tweeted: "So @McDonaldsUK has reopened in Watford! Downside: took 2 hours with @ubereats_uk. Upside: CBD Sauce Co Garlic Mayo is a great dip."

People across the south East of England also seemed to be having trouble with Uber Eats, saying the app said they lived too far from their local store despite living in a near enough radius.

One person from Luton was excited to order a McDonald's for their birthday yesterday, but was unable to despite only living 0.5 miles away from a store that was open.

They tweeted: "REALLY? @McDonaldsUK it's not even half a mile away and you won't deliver? I got excited for my birthday today and usually use this one to order from 🤷🏻‍♀️ You've got 3 in Luton and won't deliver 0.5 miles away."

To several customers, McDonald's tweeted: "Hi there, some of our restaurants are currently experiencing very high levels of orders and may not be able to facilitate all delivery requests and deliveries may become temporarily unavailable. Please do check back soon on UberEats."

An Uber Eats spokeswoman said: “Demand is very high at the Watford McDonalds store that has reopened for delivery only. We urge customers to be patient as we work with McDonalds to help to ensure that orders are fulfilled.”
