World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been listed as Britain’s second wealthiest young sports star in this years Sunday Times Rich List.

Out of the young sports stars in the rich list, Joshua, who was born in Watford, was the only non-footballer listed as he ranked second with his value shooting up £58m to a total £107m.

Sports dominated the Young Rich List of people aged 30 or under, as there were 18 sports stars out of the 50 places.

Joshua made most of his money from his memorable fights in Madison Square Garden, and the rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, against Andy Ruiz Jr.

Recently, he thanked the staff at Watford General Hospital who are treating Covid-19 patients.

He said Watford is “very very close to his heart” and recalled the many times he was being treated at the Watford hospital as a child and teenager.

Real Madrid player Gareth Bale was the richest sports person aged 30 or under with a net worth of £114million.

It was Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton who was listed as the richest British sportsman of all time, as his wealth increased by £37m in the past year to £224m.

With the new listings Hamilton overtakes David Beckham, who at the time of his 2013 retirement was worth £200m.

Golfer Rory Mcllroy was the only other sports start in the main Sunday Times list of Britain’s 1,000 richest people.
