A new health hub has launched in Watford – but is only available virtually because of coronavirus.

The new health and wellbeing service launched in the town earlier this month after being funded by Hertfordshire County Council.

But because of Covid-19, services are being run online rather than face to face.

The first service is being run in partnership with Watford Women’s Centre and provides women with support in relation to domestic abuse.

The hub will also introduce a new mental health support service which will be run in partnership with the national mental health charity MIND.

Once the lockdown period is over, the Healthy Hub will be located in the Town Hall. People will be able to make appointments or drop in to access advice, support and signposting.

Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We are all spending more time at home for the foreseeable future.

“Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. I’m pleased that we are able to offer the Healthy Hubs service virtually to really help those residents who need access to this during the current situation.”

The domestic abuse service is available Monday to Friday, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Residents who want to access the service can contact the domestic abuse caseworker Martha by mobile 07999772123 or email martha@watfordwomenscentre.org.uk for advice, information, safety planning and signposting to other support services.
