The trust which runs Princess Alexandra Hospital reported no new coronavirus deaths today.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust – which also runs St Margaret’s Hospital and Essex Hospital – has confirmed a total of 204 Covid-19 related deaths.

Data published today by NHS England revealed there had been no newly confirmed deaths in the last 24 hours.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Across England a further 174 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 24,913.

Of today’s announced deaths, patients were aged between seven and 102 years old.

Six of the 174 patients (aged between 45 and 90) had no known underlying health condition.
