A man has pleaded guilty to racial abusing and assaulting a woman in Harlow.

Police made an arrest after a video reportedly showing a woman being racially abused in the Terminus Street area circulated on social media earlier this week.

Jake Hamill, 20, of Peterswood, Harlow, was arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with four counts of assault by beating, two counts of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, six counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words, or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress, and one count of stalking.

The charges relate to several incidents between January 21 and May 18 this year.

Appearing before Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court via video link yesterday (Wednesday, May 20) he pleaded guilty to all charges.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on June 8.
