One further coronavirus death has been confirmed at the trust which runs Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Figures released today by NHS England revealed one Covid-19 patient died while being cared for by The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) on May 19.

The trust, which also runs St Margaret’s Hospital and Essex Hospital, has so far confirmed 205 total deaths.

Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.

This means some of the deaths that were first recorded in the last 24 hours may actually have taken place days earlier.

NHS England guidance states: "Confirmation of Covid-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure."

Across England a further 187 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 25,266.

Of the latest confirmed deaths, patients were aged between 14 and 98 years old.

Six of the 187 patients (aged between 46 and 94) had no known underlying health condition.
