I didn’t vote for Boris Johnson, why would I? I don’t come from the same class as he does. I don’t identify with him. I never went to Eton. And I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.
But even I have been shocked at the contempt Boris Johnson has shown for the British people.
This Government has failed the people of Southampton over Covid-19. They responded to the threat months too late. They failed on PPE, on testing, and on tracing. And now they have failed on lockdown.
But what really sticks in the throat is watching our part time Prime Minister stick up for his Dom.
People haven’t been able to say goodbye to loved ones; our carers have lacked the PPE to keep themselves safe; ordinary people have missed family and stuck to the rules. And yet Johnson says it’s fine for Cummings to go for a drive to test his eyesight.
It’s one rule for them, and another rule for us.
