A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with 'life threatening' injuries after a crash this morning.

Essex Police are currently on the scene of the collision in Holyfield Road, Waltham Abbey; officers are advising drivers to avoid the area.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called shortly after 5.35am today, Thursday June 11, after a black Yamaha motorbike and a red Vauxhall Combo collided.

"The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with injuries that have been described as life threatening.

"We are carrying out enquiries at the scene and would like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area this morning who saw what happened or has any dash cam footage of the vehicles.

"Contact the Chigwell Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident 129 of 11 June."
