A remarkable seven-year-old girl with cerebral palsy is set to one up herself and walk 15km for charity only a few months after walking 14km.

Back in May Lily Blackburn completed an incredible 14km walk for children’s hospice Haven House.

Lily, who has cerebral palsy and autism, aims to complete more than 15km on Saturday, September 19 – the day of her 8th birthday and hopes to raise a staggering £24,700 for the Woodford Green Hospice.

The youngster from Waltham Abbey, has been busy training every day ahead of the event and hopes to complete her challenge without her walking frame.

She will be accompanied by her sisters Lola and Lacey along with mum Kelly and dad Adam.

Having seen various posts on her mum’s Instagram about Haven House and the hospice’s amazing work and being inspired by the likes of Captain Tom Moore and five-year-old Tony Hudgell, who walked 10km on prosthetic legs, Lily is keen to play her part in helping seriously ill children and their families and in her words ‘help the children at Haven House be happier and have more toys.'

Lily said: “I may have cerebral palsy and autism but that doesn’t stop me living life to the full. I have an amazing family who have helped me a lot through my life and after seeing other children who have conditions that are even harder to live with than mine, I want to help.”

Lily was born prematurely and within the first week of her life had to be looked after in the Special Baby Care Unit, due to needing assistance breathing and feeding.

She was diagnosed with Bilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy at the age of two.

Dad Adam said: “Lily had to work twice as hard to master the basics of life such as walking and talking, but it was here we started to see her incredible determination and dedication (some may say stubbornness :) to get the job done.

“Lily has required numerous operations and has had to contend with a number of physical and learning difficulties but she has continued to amaze everyone with her tenacity, resilience and extremely bubbly personality. Lily is determined to push herself even further and has been training and preparing for her challenge every day. We will be supporting her every step of the way.”
