A council owned construction company is seeking the publics' opinions on five key development sites in Epping Forest.

Qualis – wholly owned by Epping Forest District Council – has drafted proposals for developments.

Residents can views the plans for the projects at the St Johns Road site, the Conder Building and car park, The Civic Centre and the Epping Sports Centre site, all of which will be purely residential schemes, with the Bakers Lane site being used for a new leisure centre.

The company says the number of car parking spaces across the town will not be reduced by the five developments as The Cottis Lane site may be developed to provide spaces in addition to offices, a new cinema and a hotel.

Plans for a new £25 million leisure centre in Bakers Lane car park have been outlined.

The centre will include a six lane 25m pool, gym, health suite, studios, soft play area and a coffee shop.

Bosses at Qualis say the neighbouring houses will be properly screened with landscaping and tree planting along with "every consideration" given to light, noise and traffic.

A spokesperson for Qualis said: "The Qualis vision also proposes that development is delivered with minimal disruption and brings forward sites in a way that aims to achieve no parking space reduction to help support the local economy and residents.

"Sustainability is a key part of the proposals which promote active transport options, with public realm interconnecting green spaces and the creation of a network of healthy streets that prioritises people, cleans the air and encourages active lifestyles."
