A man was called by someone claiming to be from his bank's fraud department just hours after his bank card was stolen from his home.

Essex Police have issued CCTV images of a man who is wanted for questioning following a burglary in North Weald.

The incident occurred on September 21 but detectives are only now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

At about 3.20pm a man's wallet was stolen from his flat above North Weald Veterinary Surgery in High Road, North Weald.

The victim received a call later that afternoon from someone claiming to be from his bank’s fraud department. However the call is believed to be from fraudsters trying to get further bank details from him.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We appreciate it’s not the clearest image but hope someone might recognise him.

"He is described as being around 6ft 1ins tall and aged around 40, and wore a top with a distinctive logo."

"Anyone who recognises the man pictured or was in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously is asked to call DC Rob Guiney at Loughton CID on 101 quoting reference 42/152291/20."
