An academy has been shut due to a large industrial fire near to the site.
Stewards Academy at Parnall Rd, Harlow, will remain closed today (November 11) following a large industrial fire that took place in the early morning.
Firefighters were called to Perry Road, Harlow, at around 12.33am to control the two-storey unit that was “completely alight” according to fire crews.
While Essex County Fire & Rescue Service reported that the fire was under control by 6am, crews are working with local authorities and police to “establish a strategy” for the next 24 hours, and it is likely firefighting will continue for some time due to the scale of the fire.

Anyone living or working near to the fire are asked to keep their doors and windows closed due to the volume of smoke, and to avoid the area if possible.
Teaching at Stewards Academy will be delivered through the Blended Learning model and pupils will be required to work from home.

On the school website, school business manager Mrs Avis wrote: “They (pupils) should follow the timings of their current timetable; instructions will be loaded onto ClassCharts for every lesson and teachers will be conducting, where possible, a 15-30 minute live lesson through Teams.
“If your child has forgotten their ClassCharts access code please: email Classcharts@stewardsacademy.org
“We appreciate your patience and support as we deliver this model for the first time.”
