A private primary school in Chigwell has been ranked top 10 in the nation.

Chigwell School, a day and boarding school, has seen its preparatory school named ninth best in the UK in the latest Sunday Times Parent Power list.

The school shot up 16 places in this year’s rankings after last year’s cohort achieved the school’s best ever Key Stage 2 SATS results.

Headmaster Michael Punt said: “We are proud to announce our ninth place in the ‘Sunday Times 100 Best Primary and Prep schools’ list to be published this Sunday. This is our highest position and represents a big improvement from our 25th place in last years’ rankings.

“When our children did their KS2 SATs in May 2019, they gained our best ever results and this reflected our improving performance in maths and English.

“I must thank all our staff for all their hard work and of course our children who worked so hard to do so well. To come ninth out of the 2,000 schools selected is a real achievement."

The 28th edition of Parent Power identifies the 2,000 highest-achieving schools, ranked by their most recently published examination results.

As well as assessment of all academic results on a school-by-school basis, Parent Power enables parents to compare the performance of a given school with other schools.
