A bone marrow donor has been found for a brave 12-year-old girl diagnosed with a severe blood disorder.

Libby Cotts, of Buckhurst Hill, was diagnosed with severe Aplastic Anaemia in October and was told that she urgently needed a stem cell transplant.

Libby, the daughter of a friend of snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan, was due to receive her transplant just before Christmas but, unfortunately, the donor became unavailable.

However, the family yesterday announced a match had been found and that the young sports enthusiast could progress with her treatment.

The family has been, and will continue to, raise money for blood disease charity Anthony Nolan.

The charity’s chief executive Henny Braund has welcomed the good news.

“Everybody at Anthony Nolan was delighted to hear a donor has been identified, and Libby can now start to prepare for the next stage in her treatment”, he said.

“We’re incredibly thankful to Libby, and her family, for sharing their stories so openly and eloquently. They have used their voices to raise awareness and vital funds at one of the most difficult times a family can face.

“We wish Libby all the very best as she gets ready for her stem cell transplant; we’ll be there every step of the way.”
