Pictured at the top of this page is The Gardeners Arms, Loughton, in c1885.
It started as a tea room for the forest visitors and later converted into a beer house.
Panoramic views across Essex and Kent can be seen from the pub, while the Brittons cottages on the far left of the picture date back to 1525.
The pub is a grade II listed building.
