Pictured at the top of this page is All Saints (the Old Church) at the top of Chingford Mount from c1910, just five years after the nave roof collapsed due to neglect.
Dating back to 1181, it is the oldest surviving building in Chingford.
With the building covered in Ivy in the 1800s, artists from far and wide would come and paint the church in what was then a rural country setting.

The church was restored in 1930 at a cost of £6000, donated by Louisa Boothby-Heathcote.
