Police are continuing their search in Epping Forest for a missing student.

Searches for Richard Okorogheye, a 19-year-old student at Oxford Brookes University, are continuing in Epping Forest for a third day.

He left his family home in Ladbroke Grove last week on March 22 and was reported missing two days later.

Police have been attempting to track the student, and he was seen travelling by bus in west London before taking a taxi to Loughton, where he was last seen walking from Smarts Lane to Epping Forest on March 23.

CCTV footage shows he was wearing all black clothing, with a black satchel bag that has a white Adidas logo.

Today (April 3) marks the third day of police searching Epping Forest, and the Metropolitan Police says so far “nothing of relevance” to the investigation has been found.

Despite this, the force says efforts are continuing in the area in hope to find more information on his disappearance.

Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling, head of the Met’s Central West Public Protection Unit, said: “People can go missing from home for any of number of reasons. Our job is not to cast judgement but to work to find them and bring them home safely.

“My message to Richard is clear. Our only concern is your safety. You are not in trouble and have done nothing wrong. If you read or hear this message we would ask you to contact us, or someone you trust, to let us know you are safe. Your loved ones and many other people who you do not even know, are very concerned.

“I would also like to thank the public for their continued support in sharing our appeals, checking doorbell and dash cam footage and passing on any information. As our efforts to find Richard continue, the eyes and ears of ordinary members of the public will be essential tools in our search.”

His mother, Evidence Joel, previously said that her son had been shielding during the lockdown due to his sickle cell disease, and he was “struggling to cope” with university pressures.

Ms Joel previously said that her son left without his medication, a jacket or any money.

She told Sky News that she felt Met officers did not consider her son to be 'high risk' until he was missing for six days.

She said: "I told a police officer that my son was missing, please help me find him, and she said: 'If you can’t find your son, how do you expect police officers to find your son for you?”

Anyone who currently sees Richard is asked to call 999 immediately, and anyone with information that could assist police should call 101 quoting 21MIS008134.
