Tributes have been led by the town's MP to a former councillor who passed away.

Tony Hall served as a ward councillor for Church Langley from 2002 until last year, when he stood down due to ill health.

MP Robert Halfon paid tribute to a 'dedicated public servant and passionate Conservative'.

"I am so very sad to hear that former Harlow Conservative Councillor Tony Hall has passed away," he said.

"When I was selected as Harlow Conservative Parliamentary Candidate way back in 1999, I remember first meeting Tony, discussing Roman archaeology. We became friends since that time, and he supported, encouraged, nurtured and assisted me in any way he could.

"As a former senior Harlow Police officer, Tony taught me much about law and order and introduced me to police colleagues.

"In 2018, I was pleased to present him with a Conservative Association Annual Trophy, for his years of public service.

“I will never forget him. His advice and encouragement will be hard to replace. Harlow has lost a great public servant, a wonderful Conservative and above all a good and kind man.

“I wish all his family every kindness and good wishes at this time
