Epping District Council’s three flagship property developments will see a total of 272 new homes built in Epping.

Planning documents for the projects – delivered by council-owned company Qualis – have been submitted revealing the full extent of the schemes.

With building potentially beginning at the St John’s road site as early as January 2022, the largest of the developments could be completed by June 2023.

At the St John’s Road site there are plans for 186 homes comprising of 265 rooms.

Two of the homes will be redevelopments of existing cottages and the rest will be apartments, with 114 one-bedroom homes, 63 two-bedroom homes and seven three-bedroom homes.

The apartments will be served by just 53 car parking spaces.

Planning documents state: "The intention for this site is to bring forward a ‘build to rent’ development which will be owned and managed by a single operator."

The other two major development sites in the town, the Civic Offices and Epping Sports Centre, will see a further 86 new homes created.
