Police have named the man killed in a hit-and-run in Waltham Abbey earlier this month and renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward.
Waltham Abbey resident Neil Darnell died in hospital two days after being struck by a car in Farm Hill Road at about 10am on Friday, April 16.
A post-mortem examination found the initial cause of the 50-year-old's death was a traumatic head injury.
The driver of the BMW 3 Series failed to stop at the scene and the car was found abandoned a short while later.
Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses who were in the area at the time and witnessed the collision, or the circumstances which led to it.
If you have any information about the collision, or any CCTV or dash cam footage available to view, you are urged to contact Essex Police's Major Crime Team on 101, quoting reference 42/72816/21.
Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity 100 per cent anonymously on 0800 555 111 or visit www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
