A teenager has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.

On Friday April 16, 50-year-old Neil Darnell, from Waltham Abbey, died after he was involved in a collision with a car in Farm Hill Road.

Detectives have been carrying out extensive enquiries into the incident which happened at around 10am in the Waltham Abbey street.

Mr Darnell had been walking along Farm Hill Road when he was struck by a grey BMW 3 series, which was later found abandoned less than a mile away.

Essex Police have confirmed that last night (Saturday May 8), a 17-year-old boy from the Cheshunt area was arrested in Harlow in connection with the investigation.

He remains in custody, where he is being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Police say they are continuing their investigation into the circumstances behind the collision and thank witnesses who have helped with their enquiries.
