Some Lengthy stretches of road in Epping Forest are set to be temporarily closed for roadworks to take place.

Essex County Council has published a notice in this week’s edition of the Guardian detailing the restrictions that are due to affect areas including Chigwell and Epping.

A notice came into effect on May 13 to close sections of Pudding Lane and Roding Lane, introduce a 30mph speed limit in these locations and ‘no waiting, no loading and no stopping at any time’ while works are carried out.

The closures will be phased and the exact dates when the work will be undertaken will be displayed on signs and/or the One.network website.

Pudding Lane is set to be shut from its junction with Abridge Road for a distance of approximately 1190 metres in a south-easterly direction.

During the closure, the diversion will be via Abridge Road, High Road, Vicarage Road, Hainault Road, Manor Road, Lambourne Road, Gravel Lane, Pudding Lane and vice versa.

Roding Lane is due to be closed to vehicles from its junction with Chigwell Rise to its junction with High Road, a distance of approximately 1230m.

The alternative route will be via Chigwell Rise, High Road and vice versa.

A part of Upland Road, Epping Upland, is due to be shut to vehicles for one day on June 6.

The road will be closed from a point approximately 1150m south-west then west of its junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a westerly direction.

The diversion will be via High Road, Thornwood Road, Palmers Hill, Maltings Lane, Lindsey Street, Epping Road and vice versa.

Motorists are set to be unable to drive along part of King Street, High Ongar, for six days from June 7 while works take place.

The road is due to be temporarily closed from a point approximately 160m south-east of its junction with Chelmsford Road for a distance of approximately 195m in a south-easterly direction.

Drivers should use King Street, Rookery Road, Chelmsford Road and vice versa during the closure.

An overnight closure is due to be in place in Brook Road, Epping, from its junction with Sunnyside Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a south-easterly direction, from June 8.

This is scheduled to be from 11pm to 5am for two nights, and the alternative route will be via Bower Hill, Station Road, High Street, High Road, Theydon Road and vice versa.
