The future of a charity which has provided a lifeline for many people during the pandemic has been safeguarded thanks to a grant of £10,000.

3food4U was visited by the Pearly Queen of Clapton Teresa Watts, who is an ambassador for the community project, and she presented the community project with a cheque from The National Lottery Community Fund.

Founder Pesh Kapasiawala said: “This grant will ensure our immediate future and will mean we can support more families in need with our growing vital service.”

Teresa said: “It is amazing to hear so many stories about the impact 3food4U has had on so many lives. The relief of no longer having to live on £1 per day for food or having only a loaf of bread to last the week. Support networks built from queuing outside together. The lady who couldn’t speak because of being overwhelmed by kindness because she was feeding her children pasta and tomato sauce every day. The gentleman that said he attends Christmas Day just to see a smiling face because he is alone.

“The stories were endless. I also drove away with a car full of products for my 0-4 years baby bank. I will be supporting you all the way; well done you are all very special people.”

3food4U is offering free groceries, clothes and essentials without assessment or referral to anyone that needs it.

The charity also has a fundraising page at https://www.give.net/3food4u
