Pictured at the top of this page is a scene from market day in Epping in the 1890’s.
Records show that there has been a market in Epping since 1253. Although mainly a cattle market, pigs and geese were also traded here.
The market sadly closed in 1961 as part of the High Street Improvement Scheme.
