The two-day Waltham Abbey Town Show has been hailed as a "fantastic family and community event".

Because of the coronavirus pandemic it was the first Town Show for two years.

The event, organised by Waltham Abbey Town Council, saw families turn out over the weekend for a variety of entertainment and stalls run by local charities and businesses.

Entertainment at Town Mead included a performance by Streetzahead dance group, Stagecoach Loughton and a display of Morris dancing.

There was also ferret racing, a dog agility course and dog show, Punch and Judy shows and circus skills.

Town Mayor councillor Jodie Lucas said: "I had such a fantastic weekend. Well done and thank you to everybody involved.

The 27-year-old became Waltham Abbey 's town mayor in May, despite being the youngest serving councillor.

Lucas has represented the Paternoster ward for more than five years having been co-opted in 2016 and elected in 2019.

She added: "It was so lovely to see everyone out enjoying themselves with family and friends and with their dogs taking part in the agility course and the dog show.

"I'm so glad we were able to go ahead and despite some challenges and the current situation we were still able to provide a great family and community event.

"We had some great performances across the two days with lots of fantastic stalls and entertainment for the children with circus skills, and Punch and Judy."
