Drivers may face some disruption from temporary closures for roadworks in Epping Forest, starting from Sunday.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details the extent of the closures and other restrictions that may be necessary while the works take place.

A section of Threshers Bush, Matching, is due to be closed on Sunday for tree cutting and overhead works.

This closure will be in place from a point approximately 235m south-east of its junction with Green Lane for a distance of approximately 65m in an easterly direction.

An alternative route will be available via Threshers Bush, Tilegate Road, Workers Road, High Laver Road, Matching Road, Matching Tye Road, Harlow Road, Matching Green Road, Moor Hall Road, Sheering Road, Churchgate Street, Hobbs Cross Road and vice versa.

A five-day closure in Crown Close, Sheering, is due to start on Monday for carriageway maintenance works,

This will temporarily close the road from its junction with The Plashets to its junction with Primley Lane, a distance of approximately 70m.

The diversion will be via The Plashets, Primley Lane and vice versa.

Another road in Sheering due to be affected by a five-day closure starting on Monday is Sheering Lower Road.

This will apply from the junction with Back Lane for a distance of approximately 220m in a north-easterly direction.

This closure is to enable new power connection works and the alternative route will be via Sheering Lower Road, Sheering Road, Harlow Road, The Street, Crown Close, Hatfield Heath Road, Chelmsford Road, Sawbridgeworth Road, Stortford Road and vice versa.

Epping Lane, from Theydon Garnon to Theydon Mount, is also due to be closed on Monday but for one day only due to overhead cabling works.

This will close the road from the junction with Hobbs Cross Road for a distance of approximately 500m in a north-easterly direction.

The diversion will be via Epping Lane, Abridge Road, Coppice Row, Piercing Hill, Theydon Road, Great Gregories Lane, Ivy Chimneys, Bridge Hill, Brook Road, Stewards Green Road, Mount Road, Colemans Farm Lane and vice versa.

Another closure set to begin on Monday, this time for two days, is a lengthy section of Upland Road, North Weald Bassett to Epping Upland.

This will shut the road to vehicles for an approximate distance of 2670m from the junction with High Road to the junction with Epping Road.

Motorists should use High Road, Thornwood Road, Palmers Hill, Lindsey Street, Church Hill, Epping Road and vice versa as an alternative.
