TWENTY-four members of Epping Bowls Club competed for the club’s annual mixed pairs competition.
The contest was held on Saturday August 14 and was sponsored by Daniel Robinson and Sons, an independent funeral directors.
In an absorbing match, Margaret Hopkinson, ladies captain, and Peter Bates won 10-3 against Rosemary and Andrew Preston in their first appearance in the final.
Prizes of hampers and goody bags were presented by Seamus Setterfield, funeral manager.
He said “It’s good to be back. It’s always a pleasure to support Epping Bowls Club, which has a long-established history in Epping. The event is always strongly contested and this year was no different.”
Peter Bates, club president, celebrated 32 years with the club with his win in the final.
He said: “We are grateful for the continued support from Daniel Robinson & Sons for their care and generosity in helping to make this such an enjoyable event. Everyone who took part had a great day.”
