Pictured at the top of this page is Epping High Street c1910 showing an early open-air motor car alongside horse and carts.
On the far left is the Epping Gas Company formed 1862. They began to supply gas to the town around 1865. By 1904 gas had been supplied to parts of Epping Upland.
The scene looks very different today
Electricity was first switched on in 1928 by the County of London Electric Supply Co.
