A Harlow man has avoided a driving ban after driving under the influence of drugs on a major road.

Leon Hunter, of Seymours, drove an Audi motor on the A414 when MDMA, commonly known as ecstasy, was found in his bloodstream in August last year.

He was also found to be exceeding the speed limit.

The 51-year-old was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates Court on Friday November 12 where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard that Huner’s “drink was laced” and he avoided a driving ban.

He was discharged conditionally for six months and ordered to pay £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
