Two people have died after a crash in Waltham Abbey yesterday afternoon (Monday).

Emergency services were called around 1pm after a collision between a BMW and a Mini in Parklands near the junction with Congreve Road.

Police have now confirmed the Mini's occupants, a man aged in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, have died from their injuries.

No arrests have been made and specialist officers are working to establish the circumstances.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "We continue to appeal for anyone who either witnessed the incident or recorded it on dashcam to come forward and speak to us if they have not already done so.

"Anyone with information should submit a report online or use the ‘live chat’ function on that page, which is available between 7am and 11pm."

Information can also be reported via 101 with reference 481 of January 10.

The collision caused the road to close for several hours as investigations were carried out.
