Households in need and those with life-limiting illnesses will benefit from a tennis club's centenary charity fundraiser.

Buckhurst Hill Lawn Tennis Club will mark its 100th anniversary by raising money for The Trussel Trust and Epping Forest Food Bank and Saint Francis Hospice on Sunday (May 15).

The event includes three American-style tournaments, a sale of discounted tennis clothing and equipment, plants, jewellery and cakes, and a raffle.

Club chairman Mark Hicks said: “We are thrilled to celebrate this historic milestone with a series of events for treasured members and the general public.

"Buckhurst Hill Tennis Club has a thriving community of dedicated committee members and players of all ages, with a renowned social event offering for all abilities across the club. We are proud to serve the West Essex and East London community in our beautiful Epping Forest surroundings and welcome new adult and junior members of any standard all year round."

Tournaments for parents and children from 9am and intermediate players and advanced players 11am, with lunch provided by restaurant sponsor 8 Rocks, Loughton, at 1.30pm. The adult semi-finals, final and trophy presentations will run from 2.30pm to 4pm.
