Three people were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs following a police operation.

The arrests were made as Chigwell officers carried out patrols on the M11 on July 7, targeting crimes between J4 to 7A at Harlow.

Along with the three drug-related arrests, one person was arrested as they were wanted on warrant.

Officers stopped 68 drivers exceeding the 40mph speed limit on the A414, as well as 19 drivers exceeding the 30mph limit along Chigwell Rise.

During their patrols, officers managed to recover a Mercedes that was stolen in Ongar just 24 hours earlier.

As part of the patrols, six drivers in Church Langley Way in Harlow and five in Chigwell Lane were reported for numerous traffic offences.

Adam Pipe, head of roads policing at Essex Police, said: "Speeding may not be on everyone’s radar as a crime, but it is illegal and could have very serious repercussions.

“It has also been identified as a factor contributing to serious and fatal collisions, but each and every driver can make a conscious decision not to exceed the speed limit, especially in an area containing two junior schools.

“It’s disappointing to have to issue tickets to motorists, but we must and will, keep our roads safe for everyone.”
