Motorists in Epping Forest may find their journeys disrupted due to temporary road closures for roadworks that are set to last up to three weeks.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week's edition of the Guardian details its intention to close roads in Loughton, Waltham Abbey and North Weald Bassett.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when works take place may vary.

Lower Road, Loughton, is due to be closed from August 5 for 22 days from its junction with Goldings Hill to its junction with Englands Lane, a distance of 180m, for water mains replacement works.

The alternative route will be via Lower Road, Goldings Hill and vice versa.

Pick Hill, Waltham Abbey, is set to be shut from a point 490m north-west of its junction with Horseshoe Hill for a distance of 65m in a north-westerly direction.

The closure is due to start on August 22 for 15 days for new water connection works.

The diversion will be via Pick Hill, Upshire Road, Horseshoe Hill and vice versa.

Also on August 22 and lasting for 12 days, a closure is due to start in Weald Hall Lane, North Weald Bassett, from its junction with Brookfield for a distance of 40m in a westerly direction for water works.

No alternative route will be available.
