Market day in Epping c1925.

In 1253, King Henry III granted Waltham Abbey the right to hold a weekly market in Epping.

Over the years it developed to become an important Essex cattle market.

Due to changing economic circumstances the cattle market ceased in 1961.

It has been superseded by a general market which attracts stall holders and customers from far and wide.
