Drivers may find their journeys disrupted due to a number of planned road closures for roadworks next month.

A notice from Essex County Council in this week’s edition of the Guardian details plans to temporarily shut roads in towns and villages across the district including Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell and Waltham Abbey.

All temporary closure notices are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when work takes place are subject to change. The restrictions will only apply at times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations and/or on the one.network website.

Water connection works are set to shut a section of Forest Lane, Chigwell, from November 7 for five days.

The closure is due to apply from a point 120m south-east of its junction with High Road for a distance of 30m in a south-easterly direction.

A three-day closure in Weald Hall Lane, North Weald Bassett, is scheduled to begin on November 8 for water leak repairs.

This is due to be in place from the junction with Brookfield for a distance of 115m in a south-westerly direction.

Epping Lane, Theydon Mount, is due to be closed from its junction with Hobbs Cross Road for a distance of 645m in a north-easterly direction from November 8 for seven days for network repair works.

Street light replacement works are due to temporarily close part of Rye Hill Road, North Weald Bassett, from November 8 for two nights (8pm to 8am).

This restriction is set to be in place from its junction with High Road for a distance of 20m in a south-westerly direction.

Forest Side, Waltham Abbey, is set to be shut for one night (9am to 5pm) on November 10 from its junction with Honey Lane for a distance of 105m in a south-westerly direction for cattle grind cleaning works.

On the same night and for the same reason, Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill, is due to be closed to vehicles from its junction with Epping New Road for a distance of 700m in a south-westerly direction.

More cattle grid cleansing works are set to result in these closures being in place on November 11 for one night (9pm to 5am):

  • Wake Road, Waltham Abbey, from its junction with Woodridden Hill for a distance of 50m in a south-westerly direction.
  • Cross Roads, Waltham Abbey, from its junction with Robin Hood Roundabout for a distance of 205m in a north-westerly direction.
