Percy Pig cut the ribbon alongside store manager Tom Sadler on the morning of November 11.

Mr Sadler said: “The whole M&S team have been working really hard to deliver this new look for our store in Epping and it’s been great to hear from customers how much they love all the new features like our fantastic new bakery.

“If you call in to visit the store you’ll find a new spacious design across our foodhall with great features like our new wine shop and digital click & collect service which are all designed to make shopping with us as enjoyable and convenient as possible.”

Marks & Spencer described the foodhall as having a “fresh-market feel with displays brimming with great quality, trusted value produce from M&S Select Farms”.

The bakery will offer fresh baked bread, cakes, and pastries throughout the day while the wine shop will offer an award-winning selection including the M&S Classics range and new varieties from "unexpected" locations in the Found range.

The new store will also include Christmas sandwiches and the Food on the Move range featuring festive breakfast, lunch, and brunch options.

This includes the new Christmas club sandwich made up of 12 layers – three layers of toasted oatmeal bread with chicken, maple bacon, cranberry chutney, stuffing, spinach, pickled red cabbage, and a gravy mayo.

A limited edition Ho Ho Hoisin Duck Dragon Roll, duck California sushi rolls with a cherry hoisin sauce, crispy onions, umami mayo, and pomegranate, will also be available.

The store is located at 237-243 Epping High Street, and open Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
