Work is progressing on the construction of 24 council flats at the Perry Road site in Staple Tye.

The plan, which is one of 11 council housebuilding schemes, is set to provide 103 new high-quality homes, breathing fresh life into this neighbourhood.

In addition to Perry Road, two other schemes in Staple Tye, Parnall Road and a former depot site, will also undergo development.

All three are being directly handled by the Harlow Regeneration Partnership, a collaboration between Harlow Council and The Hill Group.

Together, these projects are expected to supply a total of 44 council homes for the Harlow families on the Harlow Housing Needs Register.

Tom Hill, managing director at The Hill Group, said: "We are delighted to receive planning approval for our first site in partnership with Harlow Council, contributing to the regeneration of Harlow Town.

"This first exciting development is just the beginning for the Harlow Regeneration Partnership, and we look forward, not only to starting on site at Perry Road, but to delivering many more high quality, affordable homes for Harlow’s communities in the future."

The Perry Road scheme is notable in the redevelopment of the old Lister House site.

This is set to be a significant residential setting within the regenerated area, offering a mix of two and one-bedroom apartments.

Specifically, there will be 20 two-bedroom flats, catering to a diverse group of residents, including families and shared living situations.

Perry Road's redevelopment will also feature 4 one-bedroom apartments, likely to accommodate single residents or couples.

These upcoming housing options aim to provide more choice for potential residents.

A noteworthy addition to this regeneration endeavour will be the planned commercial space on the ground floor.

Though the use of this space was not clarified in the report, its existence suggests a future blend of residential and commercial areas.

This type of mixed-use development can encourage a lively and dynamic community, attracting various types of tenants and thus, enhancing the vibrancy and variety of life at the redeveloped Lister House site in Staple Tye.
