Business leaders across Essex are being urged to take on apprentices.

Adult Community Learning (ACL) Essex is calling on employers to consider apprenticeships as a way to upskill current staff or hire new talent, as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

Councillor Tony Ball, Essex County Council’s cabinet member for education, lifelong learning and employability, said: "Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to train new recruits and upskill team members, whatever their age. Apprentices bring fresh ideas and help boost innovation.

"Across Essex we’ve seen apprenticeships make a big difference to businesses. The team at ACL Essex are very experienced and provide apprenticeships for school leavers right up to middle managers. Apprenticeships are a great way of lowering recruitment costs and training employees."

Recent figures show employers benefit by an estimated £2,500 to £18,000 per apprentice during training. A total of 80 per cent of employers have seen a significant rise in employee retention.

ACL Essex is running two events during National Apprenticeship Week to support employers.

A free business networking event will take place at Pontland’s Park Hotel, Chelmsford, on February 11 from 8am to 10am. A webinar for employers will also be held on February 10 from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

Employers can register for the events at https://aclessex.com/naw-events/.
