Matilda and Willy Wonka among the Roald Dahl characters attending a Brentwood school on World Book Day.
Pupils at Hogarth Primary School were encouraged to dress as a character from their favourite Roald Dahl story to mark the occasion, with every classroom transformed into a Roald Dahl story.
They took part in themed activities such as creating a dream jar inspired by The BFG, folding origami crocodiles, designing a beard from The Twits, and making a lollipop from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This is the second year the school has celebrated World Book Day on a large scale, having become Hogwarts last year.
Lauren King, deputy headteacher, said: "I didn’t think we could better our World Book Day last year, but we may have done just that. World Book Day 2026 was absolutely wonderful. We spent weeks prepping all of the different props for the day."
"World Book Day is so important to encourage children to develop a love of reading. To see the school transform into the setting of a Roald Dahl book helps the children to appreciate the wonder of stories and imagination."
