TEAMS sitting in against superior opposition is nothing new in football and it is a challenge Leyton Orient have had to get accustomed to.

The O’s have regularly come up against sides who are content to soak up pressure in the hope of taking something away from the National League leaders.

More often than not the Brisbane Road club have had the answers to such questions and find a route through to goal.

Orient defender Sam Ling believes such resilience will serve Orient well for the remainder of the season and says their is plenty of quality in the O’s ranks.

Ling said: “I think every game is tough. We know what we can do and we know, even if it is a bit of a sticky start, that if we keep it up we can get three points.

“We can score, we can put five, six, seven past teams. That’s why we have to stay confident when things are not going right.”

Orient claimed a 2-0 win over Gateshead in their last outing and once again had to show patience before Josh Koroma opened the scoring just before the hour.

Ling says the victory will only add to the belief in a squad which is well on course to achieve the goal of a return to the Football League.

He was quick to praise the team of staff Justin Edinburgh has built since arriving at the club and feels the O’s are in a good place approaching 2019.

He said: “The bunch of lads we’ve got here are great, and the staff as well there’s a great vibe around everything to with Orient.

“Long may that continue and get us back into the Football League.”

Ling came on for Myles Judd on Saturday and put in a solid display despite the fact he hadn’t played since October due to injury prior to the outing.

He has had to be patient for chances and understands that he is playing in a Orient squad blessed with a plethora of options which creates competition.

“It’s is good competition between myself and Juddy. We both want to play, and I think we’re both good enough to play so whether it’s me or him playing I am confident we will do a job,” he said.

“Compared to last season it’s been a bit of a sticky start for me after my ankle injury and then hurting the same ankle again.

“Hopefully now I can start kicking on and getting some more minutes to help with the journey we are on
