Leyton Orient have suffered a blow after James Dayton had surgery on a knee injury this afternoon and “is likely to miss the next few months”.

The 29-year-old has been an important figure in helping the O’s to the National League summit, but had to be replaced by James Brophy in the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood.

Dayton will now undertake a “period of rehabilitation” with the club’s medical staff as he begins his recovery from injury.
